The Nuvoco Duraguard Cement Premier League features T20 format version of cricket designed to deliver maximum entertainment and non-stop action.

KEY RULES OF TWENTY20 (T20) CRICKET

match-structure-icon MATCH STRUCTURE:
  • Each team bats for a maximum of 20 overs (120 balls) in their innings
  • Each over consists of 6 legal balls bowled by the same bowler
  • Innings are completed after 20 overs or when all 10 wickets are lost
  • A bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs (24 balls) per innings

  • 11 players per team
  • A team must have a designated wicketkeeper
  • Any player can bowl, subject to the maximum 4-over individual limit
  • Teams generally use 5 or more bowling options strategically

bowling-rule-icon Bowling Restrictions:
  • Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs
  • The same bowler cannot bowl consecutive overs
  • Bowlers may bowl at different stages of the innings depending on team strategy
  • There is no restriction on the number of overs bowled by spin or pace bowlers

fielding-restriction-icon Fielding Restrictions (Powerplay):
  • Overs 1–6: Maximum of 2 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle
  • Overs 7–20: Maximum of 5 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle
  • Fielders must comply with standard ICC field placement regulations

scoring-icon Scoring:
  • Runs scored: Standard cricket scoring
  • Extras: Wides, no-balls, byes, and leg-byes add to the team total
  • No-ball: Batsman cannot be dismissed except through applicable dismissals such as run-out, and a free hit is awarded for the next delivery
  • Wide: Counts as one extra run plus any additional runs completed by the batters

dismissal-icon Dismissals:
  • All standard cricket dismissals apply: bowled, caught, LBW, run out, stumped, hit wicket, and others under the Laws of Cricket
  • Retired hurt: Player may return later in the innings if fit
  • A batter is dismissed after losing their wicket and cannot bat again in the innings

time-out-icon Strategic Timeout:
  • Official international T20 matches do not include strategic timeouts
  • Strategic timeouts are used in certain domestic leagues, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), under tournament-specific playing conditions
  • In league formats where applicable, timeout duration and timing are decided by the tournament regulations

  • The team with the highest score after both 20-over innings wins
  • If the scores are tied in applicable knockout or league matches, a Super Over is played to determine the winner
  • A Super Over consists of 6 balls per team, with the team scoring more runs declared the winner
